Mallory and Shanae

Saturday evening around 5pm I was feeling pretty bored watching tv when someone rang the doorbell. I was surprised to see it was my favorite friends who live down the street. Mallory, who is 9, and Shanae, who is 11. They rode up on their red scooter and said they wanted to come visit me. I knew them first from the piano studio where I work. We had a fun night, riding their scooter up and down the sidewalk. We went shopping at Old Navy with Erin to buy something for her date that night, and Mallory and Shanae were sure to keep me away from the scarfs! Turns out they didn't think Erin's date was cute at all, and they told me his hands were sweating because he "probably has never been on a date with someone as cute as Erin." Then they wanted to see my house so we went inside and ate watermelon. I showed them my messy room and they took turns playing my guitar and trying on my shoes. While we were sitting there we heard the icecream truck just in front of my house! I didn't even know those things existed anymore. Mallory chased him down while I yelled, "I have money, hurry catch him!" We each got an ice cream. Cord and Haydn took a break from playing basketball and wanted some too. I asked them to be my models because they are all adorable children. We took some pictures and they each wanted a turn to take one. Shanae tells me she wants to be a photographer when she grows up! They showed me their tricks on their trampoline and made me climb into their treehouse. I felt refreshed to know I had someone who thought I was pretty cool. Mallory and Shanae asked why I wasn't on a date, they said, "You're a really cute girl." Kids are so honest and straightforward. They aren't afraid to tell you what they really think. They live so simply and happily. A night full of watermelon, ice cream, shopping, riding on the scooter, running from house to house, playing soccer in the backyard and much more was all I really needed to lift my spirits. It could be a little embarassing to say that this is how a 20 yr old girl spends her time on Saturday night but I had the time of my life. They wanted to follow me and do what ever I was doing and that makes a person feel pretty good inside. Thanks girls!

  1. Awe, elise that is cute. It reminds me of the time we played spies and indians and did crazy loud handstands in the kitchen at a super awkward party! You are a super cute girl and I LOVE hanging out with you, crazy girl! Loves:)
